Candid Camera at the Club's Presentation Night 28-3-08
On behalf of the Ladies' Committee and the Men's Committee, I am happy to announce that the application for the grant from Vic Health was successful. The finance Committee has returned all necessary acceptance forms. When the money comes through, we will proceed with our plan to purchase some new umpiring equipment, and to purchase several sets of bowls, mainly in smaller sizes to be used for school groups and also for any new women bowlers.
Presentation Night
Presentation Night was run jointly by the Ladies' and Men's Committee representatives and was a very pleasant night. The new Kevin Carr Medallion and the Harrison Family Medallion for the Men's and Ladies Champion respectively were well received. The President's Appreciation Award which was also a new innovation, was awarded to a worthy winner in Phil Meulblok and everyone was very much in favour of our choice. Cam and I hope that this will become annual award, chosen by and sponsored by the two Presidents.
New Umpires
I am happy to advise that two members of the Ladies Section have recently passed their Umpires examinations.
They are Lyn Barlow and Dianne Aitken.
Veterans' Day
The annual Veterans' Day was held on 14th March. We had three new Super Veterans invested on this day.
They were Joyce Bramley, Dot Henderson and Elaine Mohn.
Tournament Committee
The Louise King Triples was cancelled due to excessive heat and has been rescheduled on 17th April.
The annual Golfers day was held on 18th March and was a popular day and well attended. This is a good PR exercise for the club and who knows, we may well gain some new members eventually.
Selection Committee
Since our last meeting the pennant finals have been run and won. The grand finals were all played here at the club and the day was a most successful one. The GDLBA have complimented us on the presentation of the greens and surrounds. The decision to provide hot food and sandwiches for players and onlooker was very well received. I would like to thank the member of the Ladies Committee who worked so hard on that day.
Congratulations to Pam Rhodes for being Runner-Up in the Association Over 60's Singles.
The Association Pairs was played off last week between two Belmont Teams. This is the first for the club.
It was won by Pat Stolp and Marg Elford with Rosemary McClure and Pam Rhodes being Runners-Up.
