Ladies Bowls Notes

From GBR delegates meeting:
- only skips to score and change board. Overall scoreboard can be changed by players.
-relegation will be two up and two down.

GBR EVENTS:  Players to pay $2 to each participating club for the use of facilities.

The monthly ladies' triples had 16 teams competing (including Highton members). On the day good wishes were given to Jean Salter on her 80th birthday. Of course, we all enjoyed the cake made by Lyn Barlow.

A number of ladies recently viewed the film "The Iron Lady". Perhaps some of the determination shown by MT will follow into mid-week pennant.

I trust that all members will give generous support to the Deaf Games here at Belmont (January 15 - 20). We need members' co-operation with the organisation for this to be a successful Club event.

Believe It or Not

Recently one of our more esteemed member was filling his vehicle at APCO in South Valley Rd. Unfortunately he had forgotten his wallet. After confessing to the young female attendant of his predicament and offering to leave his $2 watch, (that he probably purchased at the Service Station) the unsympathetic girl declined his offer. His last option was to leave his vehicle there and walk home to get his wallet, return and pay then drive his car out. Luckily it rains but doesn’t SNOW in Belmont.

Bereavements
We were recently saddened by the passing of Lois Mensch:
Lois joined BBC in 1989.
Lois served on selection committee on two separate occasions including two seasons as chairperson. She was on this committee at the time of her death.
She was twice a member of the Ladies' Committee serving as Secretary for two years from 1993-1995. Lois was also been a leader on the counter tea team for many years.

Lois also represented the club on the greens on many occasions playing oer 412 club games.
She was runner-up in GDLBA Fours in 2004-05 and runner-up in Club Pairs in 1998-99.
Lois also was a winner in the Ken Rea mixed Pairs championship in 2000-01.
In 1996-97 Lois was a member of the runner-up A2 pennant team and in 2000-2001 played in the winning premiership A1 pennant team.
Again in 2005-2006 was a member in Div. 1 pennant team who finished the season as runner-up.
Lois will be sadly missed by all her friends at Belmont.

Our deepest sympathies are extended to Syd Harbour and his family on the death of his wife Betty.

We also extend our sympathies to their families of previous members:
Evan Illingsworth who was Club President in 1981 - 82
Jim Coombe
Alf Dean

Well done Rex.
With the need to fill some vacant space in this month’s edition a proud Grandpa is showing off his new Grand-daughter, Poppy Eve Agg. Hopefully in years to come she may also be a bowler for Belmont.
Games Milestones.

John Mitchell 300 games
Peter Cornell 100 games

Women:
Pearl Mills 300 games

Congratulations and well done on these milestones.

A dog lover, whose dog was a female and 'in heat', agreed to look after her neighbor's male dog while the neighbors were on vacation.

The woman had a large house and believed that she could manage to keep the two dogs apart.
However, as she was drifting off  to sleep she heard awful howling and moaning sounds, rushed downstairs and found the two dogs locked together, in obvious pain and unable to disengage, as so frequently happens when dogs mate.
Unable to separate them, and perplexed as to what to do next, and although it was very late, she phoned the veterinarian, who finally answered in a very grumpy voice.
Having explained the problem to him, the vet said, "Okay! Hang up the phone and place it down alongside the dogs.
I will then call you back and the noise of the ringing will make the male lose his erection and he will be able to withdraw".
"Do you really think that will work, Doc?" she asked.
"Well, it worked for me," he replied...
