Text Box: Vale Dave Thomas and Glyneth Cooper.

Two of the prominent Belmont Bowls club families have lost loved ones over the past week. Members of the club, by their attendances at the respective funeral services, showed the respect these people had earned as fellow members, friends and outstanding citizens. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to their families at this sad time.
Dave Thomas was an excellent bowler, held the position of Men's President and undertook the arduous task of sponsorship chairman. He was a regular supporter of all functions put on by the club.
In his professional life he was a highly successful High School Principal, cutting his teeth at Nhill High School, he had the important role of being the foundation principal of Corio High School. He was also a long time Rotarian, awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship, a mark of high distinction in that service club.
His wife Bev, is fortunately still an active player and former club champion. With Dave, during his illness they accumulated a detailed knowledge of Belmont coffee dispensaries.
Glyneth Cooper was a classy lady , A social member of the club she was the stalwart behind husband Tom, one of the funniest comics and joke tellers in the business.
She never forgot her heritage. Born in Morth Wales. Glyneth founded the Geelong Ladies Welsh Choir, to which she recruited quite a number of our ladies (Gev Thomas and Joan Davis for example). On many occasions they entertained us with their beautiful singing.
Glyneth was , by profession a Nurse, who held administrative positions in the Geelong health System. A born organiser, possessed of a good sense of humour, added to the desire to get things done, made her a much sought after professional.
Both Dave and Glyneth were proud parents and grandparents.
They have both lived respected and died regretted.
We were fortunate to have them as members of our club.
